Youth suits are sized mostly by your child's height. Alpinestars youth suits and the OMP RAIN-K use height sizes such as 120, 130, 140 and 150 cm, while other brands use their own youth charts. Measure your child's height and chest, check each product's size chart, and if they're between sizes, choose the larger one.
It depends on the series and class. Sanctioned karting may call for an FIA 8877-2022 or CIK-FIA homologated suit, while indoor and rental tracks often don't. Youth versions of the OMP KS-3X and KS-2X ART are FIA 8877-2022 homologated. Check your rulebook before you buy.
No. A karting suit resists abrasion but isn't fire-resistant, so it doesn't meet the SFI ratings car classes usually require. Kids who race cars with a seat harness need a youth racing suit, such as the Bell SPORT-YTX (SFI 3.2A/1) or the Zamp ZR-40 Youth (SFI 3.2A/5).
Choose the size that fits now, with a little room to move, and if your child is between two sizes, pick the larger one. A suit that's much too big can bunch up in the seat and get in the way of the controls, while one that's too small restricts movement.
