View full detailsHelp your young driver take to the track with a properly fitted youth karting helmet. FAST RACER offers kids' karting helmets from trusted racing brands like Bell and Zamp, with options for beginners, club competitors, and developing racers.
Our collection includes lightweight helmets designed specifically for younger drivers and smaller head sizes. Shop multiple colors, graphic designs, and certification options—including select FIA/Snell CMR, CMS, and SFI-rated models. Because every track and racing organization may have different requirements, always confirm the required helmet certification before ordering.
A kids' go-kart helmet should feel evenly snug around the entire head without creating painful pressure points. It should remain secure when the driver moves their head and should not slide forward, backward, or from side to side.
Choose a helmet by measured head circumference rather than age alone. Compare the measurement with the individual manufacturer's sizing chart, since sizing can vary between brands and models. If your measurement falls between sizes, contact FAST RACER for fit guidance before purchasing.
Certification requirements depend on the driver's age, event, track, and sanctioning organization. Youth-specific karting helmets commonly carry standards such as FIA/Snell CMR, FIA/Snell CMS, or SFI 24.1, while certain youth racing helmets may carry other ratings. SFI 24.1 is also accepted by major U.S. karting organizations, including SKUSA and USPKS.
Do not choose a helmet based only on appearance or size. Check the current rules for the events your child will enter and verify the certification shown on the specific product page.
Use a flexible measuring tape and wrap it around the widest part of the head—approximately one inch above the eyebrows, just above the ears, and around the largest point at the back.
Keep the tape level and comfortably snug. Record the measurement in centimeters and compare it with the size chart for the exact helmet model. Measuring more than once can help confirm the result.
A correctly fitted kids' racing helmet should be comfortably tight when first worn. The cheek pads should make firm contact, and the helmet should move with the scalp when gently rotated.
It should not create sharp pressure points, interfere with vision, or move independently from the head. Remember that comfort padding may settle slightly after use, so a new helmet should not begin with a loose fit.
A smaller adult helmet and a youth-specific helmet are not automatically interchangeable. Youth karting helmets are engineered specifically for young kart racers, primarily drivers under 15, and are built to keep helmet weight low, which helps reduce the forces placed on a child's head and neck. Adult helmets are generally heavier, since they are designed to support greater impacts.
Select the helmet according to the driver's measurements, age eligibility, and applicable racing rules—not simply the smallest shell available. When uncertain, confirm the requirements with the track or sanctioning body. If your driver is ready to size up, browse our full Bell and Zamp helmet lineups.
Yes, in most cases. Recreational and rental karting is generally less strict than sanctioned competition, so a youth-certified helmet is commonly accepted for casual go-karting. Facility rules still apply, and rental centers sometimes provide their own helmets or set their own requirements. Contact the venue before purchasing a go-kart helmet for a child, especially if it will be used for organized competition.
If the helmet fits and the activity does not require an adult certification, such as Snell K2025 or Snell SA2025, an adult can typically wear a youth karting helmet for casual, recreational karting or other low-speed motorsport activities. This is a common question from customers interested in driver-edition styles such as the Lando Norris or Lewis Hamilton helmet.
This is different from sanctioned adult competition, where the rulebook's accepted certifications apply regardless of fit or appearance. Confirm the requirements with the track or sanctioning body before purchasing a youth helmet for adult competitive use.
Replace a helmet after a significant impact, even when the exterior appears undamaged. It should also be replaced if the shell, liner, strap, visor mechanism, or other structural components show damage or if the helmet no longer fits securely.
Follow the manufacturer's inspection and replacement guidance, and make sure the certification remains eligible for the events your driver enters.
Explore FAST RACER's selection of youth go-kart helmets in sizes, colors, and designs made for young competitors. Review each product's sizing and certification details, then choose the helmet that fits both your driver and the rules of their racing program.
Complete the kit by shopping Kart Racing gear and Youth Kart Racing Shoes, or browse the full Youth & Kids Collection. Need help comparing models or selecting a size? Contact the FAST RACER team for personalized assistance.
