Questions about Bell SE07 3mm Replacement Shield For HP7 and RS7 Helmets

Q&A

6 answered questions

  • Which SE073mm visor is best for my Bell RS7 helmet?

    Guest

    • It depends. There is a number of options available to suit every condition (rain, sunlight intensity levels, night racing, etc. Also, it depends if you are racing in an open cockpit or closed cockpit vehicle. In general:
      • Clear SE07 visors: default when buying a helmet. Give you optimum visibility in low light levels and wet conditions.
      • Smoke SE07 visors: ideal for middle of the day racing and semi to low-level light.
      • Mirrored SE07 visor and irridium shields: they are the coolest in terms of aesthetics, with almost all F1 drivers wearing those. They do require more maintenance, though, as they get scratched easily. They would not be recommended when racing at night.
      • Amber shields: they are the best when racing at night.

  • Which of the SE07 3mm shield is best for rain?

    admin

    • Staff Answer
For rainy conditions, it is recommended a "clear" anti-fog visor for best visibility. FAST RACER does not recommend any tinted or dark smoke visors. The Bell SE07 3mm features a DSAF (Double Screen Anti Fog) technology for the best anti-fogging capabilities.

  • What is the snell helmet expiration date?

    admin

    • As a general rule, Snell SA helmets are valid for 10 years from their certification date. For example, a Snell SA2025 helmet is good until December 31, 2035. When a new certification comes out, such as SA2030, those helmets are valid until December 31, 2040. Most racing organizations like SCCA, NASA, and NHRA follow this guideline. However, we always recommend checking your specific rulebook, as requirements may vary between different organizations or events.

  • How long will my SA2020 helmet be good for?

    admin

    • Most racing organizations, such as SCCA, NASA, and NHRA, accept Snell SA helmets for 10 years from the homologation date, not the purchase or manufacture date. This means an SA2020 helmet is generally valid through December 31, 2030. However, certain series, like NHRA, may allow use for slightly longer or shorter periods depending on their rules. Always consult your current rulebook, as some organizations may require newer standards sooner than others.

  • Can you use a motorcycle helmet for car racing?

    admin

    • No. A motorcycle helmet should not be used as a car racing helmet because it does not meet the necessary fireproofing and impact resistance requirements, such as Snell SA2025 or FIA 8859-2024 standards, nor does it provide for head and neck restraint systems. Car racing helmets are specifically engineered for the unique hazards of motorsports, including fire resistance and impact protection in confined spaces. Additionally, drivers should select helmets tailored to their specific application; for instance, a Dirt Track helmet differs in construction and ventilation from an open wheel asphalt racing helmet. Proper selection ensures optimal safety and performance on the track.
