What it means:
Despite “2016” in its name, it remains a current Snell/FIA standard designed specifically for young kart racers, primarily drivers under 15. These helmets provide strong impact protection while keeping helmet weight low to help reduce the forces placed on a child's head and neck.

Typically required for:
Youth and junior kart racing. CMR2016 is recognized by major U.S. karting organizations, including SKUSA and WKA, for youth competition. Age and class requirements vary by series.

Not intended for: Motorcycle or auto racing use.

    How do you mount the spring clips for the head and neck device on a RZ-42y?
    • The Zamp RZ-42Y C4 Youth Graphic Racing Helmet (FIA/Snell CMR) does not include M6 inserts for Head and Neck Restraints, so it is not compatible with spring clips or HANS devices out of the box. While some may modify the helmet by drilling to add inserts, we strongly advise against this, as it could compromise safety and certification. For proper compatibility with FHR/HANS devices, it is best to choose a helmet certified to the SFI 24.1 standard, such as the Zamp RZ-47Y Carbon Helmet, which comes equipped with M6 terminals for secure installation.

    • This youth racing helmet does not come with M6 inserts for head and neck restraints, so it is not compatible with your son's HANS chest piece. You will need a youth helmet with SFI 24.1 certification. Those will have factory-built-in M6 inserts enabling seamless attachment of head and neck restraint systems. Here are some examples:
