The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile), the international governing body for motorsport.

What it means:
FIA 8860-2018 is the FIA's current Advanced Helmet standard for higher levels of auto racing. Despite “2018” in its name, it remains a current FIA homologation. It requires more demanding impact, penetration, crushing, and fire-resistance testing than the FIA Premium Helmet standard. This is the non-ABP version.

Typically required for:
Professional and high-level auto racing where FIA 8860-2018 helmets are specified. Some championships accept either 8860-2018 or the ABP version, while others may specifically require ABP.

Not intended for: Motorcycle use.
