A two-piece set lets you buy the jacket and pants in different sizes for a better fit, and it's easier to put on and take off between rounds. Drag racers often choose them, with the jacket overlapping the pants at the waist. Check that your class allows a two-piece suit before you buy.
Requirements depend on your sanctioning body, class and elapsed times, and are set in rulebooks such as NHRA's. They usually specify a minimum SFI 3.2A rating for the jacket and pants, and sometimes for gloves, shoes and a head sock too. Always check your current rulebook, since requirements rise as cars get faster.
Jackets are sized by chest and arm length, and pants by waist and inseam, so you can choose a different size for each piece. Compare your measurements with the size chart on each product page, leave room for fire-resistant underwear, and if you're between sizes, choose the larger one.
