The "+" sizes use the same shell as the base size but with slightly less interior padding, letting the helmet fit a head circumference that falls between two standard sizes instead of jumping you to a larger shell. It's Bell's way of covering in-between measurements — not a different or lesser helmet, just a fit adjustment. Measure carefully against the size chart on this page before choosing, since guessing between a base size and a "+" size is the single most common fit mistake on this model.
